We finally got to have Ghost Daughter's birthday cake...only 3 weeks late. When your daughter asks you to make a cake with her favorite My Little Pony (Apple Jack) and an apple orchard on it, you do what you can. So here it is. Apple spice cake with cream cheese frosting. The trees are rock candy sticks dotted with red icing for apples. Cinnamon candies stand in for the fallen apples. And the ponies came from Blind Bags (you don't know which pony you've bought until you open it.) Can you believe the luck? I actually got Apple Jack (notice the 3 apples of her "cutie mark") and no duplicates! It was providence. An extra bit of awesome came when the flames of the candles burned in different colors. Ghost Daughter really enjoyed that cake.
Welcome to project 365. This writer of ghost stories, mother of two, and wife to the Professor, aka "Ghost Hunk" (for 18 years), finds inspiration everyday, even if she sometimes forgets. So for the next year, I will document these little epiphanies, whether it's a bug on the windshield or some brilliant, breathless moment in this crazy life or something in between.
With the project complete, check out some new adventures:

Day 235—Happy Thanksgiving
The bird was glorious, but perhaps a little too glorious...we ate it before I could snap a picture. So you'll have to use your imagination. Mmmmmm...it was good.

Day 173
This hangs above my writing desk at home. Very dear friends gave this to me when my mother died a few years ago, and it has meant the world to me. But what meant so much more was that they came to see me at the moment when I needed them most. I care that love with me always...and send it right back.

Day140
Storm clouds kept us on shore today, but it was an awesome weekend. Love you all, my friends! Thanks for putting up with me...

Day 139
Howdy, Tex
This little guy was found near death alongside a highway in Texas. Thankfully, friends of a friend of a friend rescued him and brought him to Florida where he found a forever home with my best friend, Lisa.
Day 138
So I didn't post this one before midnight, but I have the best reason...partying with my sister from another mother!

Day 118
HAUNTED PHOTO?
I'm cheating a little today. It's been hectic, so I'm sliding in another photo from the NC trip. The Latimer house was one stop on our ghost tour, said to be haunted by at least one spirit (named Impy). The story of Mrs. Latimer and her lost children was so interesting that we returned the next morning for an official tour of the house. Who knows why my photo fogged up this way. It was a beautiful (hot) day. Perhaps it was Mrs. Latimer welcoming us to the house. Then again, four of her eight children died in that house before they could reach adulthood. Perhaps it is one of them stopping to pose for the camera...

Day 111
Our last day in North Carolina. My own "freaky dead children" fans wearing the artwork of Ghost Son. Stay tuned for a wickedly cool website and your chance to own some original art soon!
It was a hard day. Lots of emotion and a very long drive, complete with tornadic rain and a painfully long traffic tie-up on I-95. Glad to be home, though PA will always be our real home.

Day 50
Meet Arlo...frisky, fun-loving schnauzer/person. No, I have not lost my mind and adopted another pet. I like to think he has adopted me...or at least approved of me so I can visit his owner, my dear friend Nicole. Arlo's favorite toy is a plush manatee (he's already thinking of retirement in Boca) and it is pretty much all he wants to do when I come over. Never mind the pig in the photo, the manatee is wedged between my leg and the arm of the chair, precisely where Arlo dropped before he began to insist that I play fetch with him. But how can anyone resist for long?
